This weeks Athlete of the Week is Drew Cayton a seventh grade student at Robert L. Bland Middle School who participates in four sports: football, wrestling, basketball, and baseball.
Cayton, has already played football for seven years, is currently excelling at running back for the 4-1 Lewis County Midgets football team. Cayton said that his favorite part of playing football is scoring touchdowns and his biggest achievement as a football player was scoring nine touchdowns in a single game when he was playing at the Pee Wee level.
He added that learning the plays is probably the most difficult part of the sport.
Drew said that his favorite sport is probably baseball, where he plays in the local PONY League as well as for the LC Elite travel team that saw success in tournaments over the summer. He added that he plans on continuing his athletic career once he moves up to Lewis County High School, but he’ll probably choose to concentrate on one or two sports, mostly likely baseball, or football.
Drew noted that his favorite subject in school was English, and that when he’s not playing sports he enjoys the outdoors, particularly hunting, and working on his family’s farm.
