The Weston Fairs and Festivals Committee is planning the fifth annual Small Business Market on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 24 and 25, at Saint Patrick Gym in Weston.
The event is part of the committee’s effort to promote Small Business Saturday, an American Express promotion.
“We are so fortunate to have participated for these past five years with American Express. The company sends us some wonderful marketing materials for the event,” explained Julia Spelsberg, committee member.
“We will distribute the bags at our Small Business Market but will also be giving a bag full of marketing goodies to small businesses in Weston who are participating in our Small Business Passport promotion this year.”
The Small Business Passport entails the retailer providing a $25 gift certificate or gift to the organizers. The passport will have the names of each participating business.
The participant only has to have the participating business owner check off their business on the passport. Shoppers who fill up 80 percent of their passports, enter the passport into a drawing for gifts from the small businesses.
We will start the Passport Contest on Friday, Nov. 24, and have the drawing on Dec. 15,” explained Spelsberg.
“If a business wants to participate they only have to call the City Building and we will get in touch.”
Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the market on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. People are invited to bring their children to visit Santa. Pet owners are also welcome to bring well-behaved pets for a Santa visit.
